Contact UsDr. Jeronimo Guzman began attending dental school in his native Mexico City in 1995, graduating from the Universidad Tecnológica de México in 1999 in the top 5% of his class. After completing a mandatory one-year public service requirement with The National Institute for Respiratory Disease, he obtained his master’s degree with the thesis, “Emergency allergic reactions in the dental office.” In August 2000, he enrolled at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio to complete a four-month foreign externship in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Then, in 2001, Dr. Guzman began an 18-month mandatory internship program for foreign doctors in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan. Soon after, Dr. Guzman started his four-year residency training program at the same university. During his six years of postgraduate education and surgical training, he was a lecturer for multiple departments like General Surgery, Anesthesia, Trauma Surgery, and Dentistry. His focus was mostly on complex facial trauma reconstruction, maxillofacial infections, and multidisciplinary treatment.
Dr. Guzman graduated in 2006 and joined the South Florida Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery team in 2007. Today, he is well-known in the community as a pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgeon due to his extensive training during his years in Puerto Rico as well as the Implant specialist in comprehensive jaw reconstruction cases.
In 2022, Dr. Guzman co-founded The Head & Neck Microvascular Surgery Institute with renowned microvascular reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Anastasiya Quimby, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. Along with Dr. James Azzi, a head and neck microvascular and facial plastic surgeon, they established the “CRJ” protocol, or Comprehensive Reconstruction of the Jaw. This involves a complex protocol for patients with aggressive mandibular or maxillary tumors, osteonecrosis, osteoradionecrosis, and many other conditions involving the loss of maxillary or mandibular bone. Through a very strict virtual surgical plan with 3D technology, they have established their own method to reconstruct the mandible with the leg’s fibula bone, place dental implants, and finally attach a dental prosthesis to the implants the same day. This is what Empowered Dr Guzman, Dr Quimby, and Dr Azzi to create the CRJ Institute.
